About Override: A Novel
When a meteorite is discovered that threatens all life on Earth, robotics director Moosha Najafi embryology chief Saira El Amin, and others at Nejima Space Agency scramble to find a new home for the human race. The plan to colonize faraway planet hinges on the successful transport, thawing, and incubation of a “dream team” of a thousand embryos—and the room for error is as vast as space itself.
A Hunger Games-style competition is held, but not for the entertainment of the masses. It’s not the ability to kill that elevates athletes and scholars to celebrity status. Contenders from every country on the planet vying for the chance to have their DNA used to start anew under distant stars.
Light-years away, the stirring second act delivers adventure and suspense as Earth’s pioneers face intelligent life with secrets beyond their own imagination—revelations that might tie the present with the past and future of humanity.
Fans of the movies WALL-E and 2001: A Space Odyssey and readers of commercial fiction with sci-fi settings, such as Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, and The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton will be drawn into the action, delighted by the building tension, and will appreciate the use of sensitivity and light humor to bring dimensionality to the key players and their multifaceted relationships.
